Teeth whitening in Solna
We whiten teeth with two established systems, Philips Zoom and Opalescence. The dentist chooses the method according to your wishes, the condition of your enamel and your oral health.
- Philips Zoom and Opalescence
- At the clinic or at home
- Express: 1–2 hours
- At-home whitening for sensitive teeth

Teeth whitening is cosmetic, not medical
Teeth whitening is not a medical treatment and is usually done on your own initiative. There are therefore few contraindications, but in some cases we recommend that you hold off. Please note that fillings, inlays, crowns and veneers do not change colour when whitened.
Teeth whitening options
The systems differ in composition and effect on the enamel, but both also contain substances that care for the enamel. Four options:
- Professional teeth cleaning
- Tartar and plaque are removed so that the natural lightness of your teeth comes back.
- Express whitening at the clinic
- 1–2 hours in the dental chair, supervised by an experienced specialist. Your teeth may feel tender for a short while.
- At-home whitening
- Trays and whitening gel. A gentle method that suits sensitive teeth, with full effect after about a week.
- Darkened root-filled teeth
- Whitened from the inside with 3 percent hydrogen peroxide in the root canal for 3–5 days.
The dentist chooses the system and method at the consultation.

How teeth whitening works at the clinic
This is how express whitening works. At-home whitening is done with trays and gel, following the dentist’s instructions.
Consultation
The dentist reviews your wishes, the condition of your enamel and your oral health, and chooses the system.
The gums are protected
The gums are isolated before the whitening agent is applied.
The whitening agent works
The gel, with a high concentration of the active ingredient, stays on the teeth for 20, 40 or 60 minutes, depending on the product.
Boost the effect
To keep the result, we recommend home trays with whitening gel, or a new treatment with us.

Common questions about teeth whitening
Can’t find the answer? Call us on 08-650 10 60.
How long does it take?
Express whitening takes 1–2 hours in the dental chair. With at-home whitening you wear the trays overnight, or for 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the product. Full effect is reached after about a week.
Will my teeth become sensitive?
After whitening at the clinic, your teeth may be sensitive for a short time. At-home whitening is a milder option that suits sensitive teeth.
How long does the result last?
The effect of at-home whitening lasts a long time. If you smoke and do not plan to stop, the result will be weaker and short-lived. To keep the effect, you can use trays with whitening gel at home or come back for a new treatment.
Who should avoid teeth whitening?
We recommend that you hold off if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, are under 18, have holes in your teeth, cracks in the enamel or loose edges on fillings and crowns, or are taking certain antibiotics or medicines over a longer period (ask your doctor).
Do fillings and crowns get lighter too?
No. Fillings, inlays, crowns and veneers do not change colour when whitened. It is good to know this if you have them on visible teeth.
